Ferrous Processing and Separation Application
Ferrous scrap metal includes metals that can be reclaimed for use through traditional ferrous scrap recovery systems. These metals include a wide variety of light ferrous scrap such as sheet steel, 55 gallon drums, white goods, and other forms of loose tin. Heavier ferrous scrap can be processed through the Saturn hammermill line of ferrous scrap metal shredding equipment which also produce a more consistent, higher density shred. Shredders prepare the metals for further separation or directly to end ferrous scrap consumers for scrap metal recycling. Additional Granutech machinery can compact and densify larger ferrous items reducing transportation costs.
Quad shaft shredders can also reduce and process ferrous scrap producing a consistent size end product. Dual or quad shaft shredders break bales or briquettes of pre-processed metal scrap for final size reduction and separation. Integrated systems include shredders and hammer mills with feed and discharge systems along with separation processes for producing a clean ferrous end product.

Saturn Dual Shredder

MAC 5200 Baler
Developed for high density baling of both ferrous and non-ferrous metal, MAC’s Model 5200 excels in a broad range of materials including loose steel sheet, clips and trim stock. A real workhorse, the Model 5200 features both a shear head compressed ram and side compressed ram, and is capable of producing bales measuring 16-inches square by variable lengths at a rate of 55-60 per hour. Bale densities vary according to material but average 165 lb./cu. ft. for ferrous material and 50-65 lb./cu. ft. for aluminum.
Saturn Grizzly M-80
The Saturn Grizzly M-80 is a size reduction system utilizing a unique staggered knife single rotor design. This durable industrial rubber granulator is easy to maintain and provides incredibly clean rubber and separated steel when processing tires.
